THE BIGGEST RELEASES OF 2025
From Brat summer and instantly iconic diss tracks to big names collaborating, 2024 had a lot to offer musically. Here’s a look at some of the biggest upcoming releases for this year.
Playboi Carti – I Am Music
After his previous album “Whole Lotta Red” was already delayed numerous times, the same seems to keep happening with Playboi Carti’s upcoming release “I Am Music”.
The anticipation for this project has been fueled by cryptic hints and delays, keeping fans on their toes. Carti's album promotion began on December 7, 2023, with an Instagram story stating, "I am music," followed by Pharrell Williams’ response, "Prepare."
Over the following months several songs were released and previewed but the album is still nowhere in sight. After those Fridays came and went, here’s to hoping 2025 will be the year for the long-awaited release.
Rihanna – R9
Rihanna’s fans have been waiting for this moment for what feels like an eternity: her ninth studio album, with the working title R9.
Between dominating the worlds of fashion and beauty, Rihanna has taken her time to craft a project that’s as bold and multifaceted as she is. However Rihanna finally talked about going into the studio last summer which should put us on track for new tracks in 2025.
This journey hasn’t been without its hurdles, as Rihanna has openly discussed the pressure of meeting fan expectations while exploring new creative directions. But if her past work is any indication, R9 will be worth the wait.
A$AP Rocky – Don’t Be Dumb
Staying on the subject of waiting, there's also Rihannas husband, A$AP Rocky. It’s been a while since 2018’s “Testing”, so when “Don’t Be Dumb” was announced and put up for pre-order last year, the fans got excited.
During Paris Fashion Week on June 21, 2024, A$AP Rocky previewed some songs and announced an August 30 album release. And the excitement only grew after the release of “Highjack”, a fantastic single featuring Jessica Pratt. Earlier in August, Rocky also teased a track titled "Hood Happy," featuring several iconic artists and made the album available for pre-order.
In an August 22 interview, he revealed the album was delayed to fall 2024 due to sample clearances and leaks. Nevertheless, it’s 2025 now and many pre-purchases of “Don’t Be Dumb” have been refunded due to more delays, but we’re banking on the album finally dropping this year.
FKA twigs – EUSEXUA
FKA Twigs is back, and she’s bringing a deeply personal narrative to her latest album, Eusexua. After 2022’s “CAPRISONGS”, Twigs has stayed busy creating art and even acting in last year’s The Crow remake.
For Twigs, this project is not just music but a journey through self-discovery, resilience, and empowerment. The artist explains the title as a “feeling of temporary transcendence”. Over the past few years, she’s faced both personal and public challenges, describing the process of creating Eusexua as one of healing and transformation. In an interview, she explained that "Eusexua" represents the feeling of such intense euphoria that it feels like transcending human form.
Twigs premiered the album at a New York City listening party in August. Besides all the other albums on this list Eusexua is out now. The additional Eusexua Tour was announced on January 16, 2025.
Kanye West – Bully
Few artists generate as much intrigue as Kanye West, and his upcoming album Bully is no exception. The project takes its name from the 2001 crime drama Bully, a film that tells the disturbing story of a group of friends who conspire to murder their abusive companion, Bobby. The album's title hints at similarly intense and provocative themes. The cover art was created by legendary photographer Daidō Moriyama and features an image of Kanye's son, Saint West, blending personal and artistic layers.
The album was officially announced on September 28, 2024, during Kanye's Vultures 2 listening event in Haikou, China. At the event, Kanye performed two new tracks, "Beauty and the Beast" and "Preacher Man," giving fans their first glimpse into the album's sound and direction. Reportedly a concept album, Bully is entirely self-produced by Kanye, showcasing his continued evolution as an artist and producer.
While no release date has been revealed, Bully is already generating significant anticipation as Ye made the album up for pre-order and took it down again several times. Fans are also left speculating about the status of Vultures 3, which remains unreleased, keeping excitement for Kanye's next moves high.
