THE 1985 EXHIBITION

29
May
2025

On May 30th, solebox Paris opened the vault to one of the most comprehensive sneaker showcases ever assembled: The 1985 Exhibition, curated in collaboration with renowned collector HOLYSOLEVAULT and sneaker historian SNEAKERDENN.

At the heart of the exhibition is an unmatched collection of original 1985 Air Jordan 1s. Visitors can explore:

Every original in-line leather release, from classics like the Chicago and Bred to the Royal, Black Toe, UNC, and beyond.

All seven metallic colorways, including ultra-rare pairs like Metallic Orange and Purple.

A dedicated section on the Sky Jordan line—Nike’s Air Jordan version for kids, lacking the Air unit but full of historic flair.

What truly sets this exhibition apart is its access to the unseen. For the first time, visitors can view game-worn pairs, player exclusives, and sample iterations that never made it to retail shelves.

Among these are Air Jordan 1 Chicago Player Exclusives crafted in Michael Jordan’s actual size and featuring a unique cut that differs from released pairs.

The exhibition also showcases early AJKO prototypes and Air Ship variations worn by MJ before the Air Jordan 1 was finalized. Another standout is the Air Jordan 1.5, a hybrid silhouette that combined the AJ1 upper with an AJ2 sole, developed after Jordan’s foot injury.

In addition, visitors can explore original salesman samples, rare Bred PE prototypes, and unreleased college PEs featuring distinctive logos and outsole variations - all of which offer a rare glimpse into the early design process behind the legend.

Curated by the culture, this isn’t just a sneaker display—it’s a storytelling experience shaped by community and heritage. At the heart of the exhibition is SNEAKERDENN, a respected figure in sneaker history who has built a reputation for curating immersive footwear narratives. His deep understanding of the culture and its visual language is woven into every corner of the exhibition. Alongside him, HOLYSOLEVAULT contributes one of the largest and most complete original AJ1 collections in the world, unlocking access to rare and unseen gems directly from his private archive—each pair carrying a piece of basketball and streetwear history.

The 1985 Exhibition is on Display from May 30th until July 9th at the solebox studio in Paris.
